Incubus
Incubus
the widow's walk - Kyle's refuge
Kyle and Jayne’s lives were rocked by the death of their best friend two months ago. Each girl tries to cope in her own way–Kyle by shutting down and drawing closer to Jayne, and Jayne by seeking comfort with boys.
Since Cass’s death, Kyle has been seeing a mysterious man everywhere she goes. He first appears at the scene of the accident, then at the funeral, then around town. She believes him to be a figment of her imagination until he starts eating at the diner she works at every night.
Then Jayne goes missing without any leads, and Kyle is determined to do the job her detective father cannot–find her. When the man from the diner shows up, she expects to learn that he is involved in Jayne’s disappearance.
But she doesn’t expect to learn the truth about her past, who she is, and her connection to Jayne’s captor.

Incubus started as a dream – a long time ago. The dream was so vivid, and was nothing like Incubus is today. As the first book I started after deciding I was serious about writing, I made a lot of amateur mistakes on Incubus. As a result, it got abandoned and picked back up and reworked and rewritten (the beginning at least) over and over. As a result, only the premise of the book remains the same as my dream. The story? Not so much. But still, it is probably my favorite thing I have written, and is definitely the book I am closest to (which apparently makes it the hardest to write a decent synopsis for). I have plans for two sequels to Incubus, but no idea when I will write them!
