My autobiography; or, Great Books Week: Take 3

I’d write my autobiography, but I don’t need to, because my story has already been told in…

Yesterday’s prompt was hard; this one is impossible.

I believe every story is unique. Every book, be it great or otherwise (assuming it wasn’t plagiarized), is different. So is every life. I read books partly to enter a world that is different than my own. Live a life that is not mine. Have experiences I would otherwise not.

When I read, I often find similarities between my life and that of a character. I see similar situations, and feel the same emotions. This does not mean any of these books are telling my story. Honestly, I would not read one that did. I am living my story; I have no need to read it. Reading my own story would bore me (and quite possibly others–I am not an incredibly exciting person), and I would rather be excited by a book.

I love great books, and am happy to find new and thrilling stories in them.
